Dr. Norma Ambriz-Galaviz is the President of Merritt College. Her professional career spans over 30 years of working with the recruitment and retention of youth to attend and stay in college. Dr. Ambriz-Galaviz has served as a counselor, instructor, program coordinator/director, in addition to her administrative leadership roles as an Educational Dean and Vice President of Instruction.


 

Maritere Guerrero is a HCAC scholarship recipient and attending UC Berkeley. She graduates this coming Spring with a major in Geography and minor in Global Poverty. We are very proud of Maritere as she plans to continues her passion in teaching.

The mission of the HCAC is to promote the value of education, cultural diversity, and community involvement. We are a volunteer-driven, non-profit organization dedicated to young Latinos, throughout Alameda County, who are interested in pursuing a college education.

 

We look forward to another successful year of awarding scholarships to deserving students who have been selected on the basis of economic need, academic excellence, leadership, and service to their community.
